Took bc this year as a junior, absolutely one of my favorite classes I’ve taken, it really opens up math and shows you just what you can do with numbers, excited for calc three and linear algebra for senior year

I just finished Honors Pre-Calc over the summer this past Wednesday so I can take BC this coming year (11th grade). Our school got rid of Honors in person, and replaced it with AP, so either you take AP or regular. Didn't qualify for AP since I didn't take Honors Algebra II, so I took Honors Pre-Calc to give me the same result. I've already looked into some concepts from the first few units of BC so I'm feeling good about taking it when school starts back in a few weeks!

As someone who took AP Calc BC in their junior year (I'm taking Multvariable now), as long as you do the practice, you should be fine. I wouldn't say it's easy, far from it, but it's definitely not as intimidating as many people think. Now, of course, this also depends on the teacher. I was fortunate enough to have an absolutely goated teacher who would make sure that everyone understood the content. I also have her for multi this year and she's still just as good.

Yea at my school AB was required before BC, as someone who isn’t planning on studying stem that didn’t bother me. Most kids find calc AB to be easier than classes like Apush or AP lit. Personally I found Apush to be extremely easy and calc to be hard and my scores show it. So if you’re not a stem kid like me take AB because colleges probably won’t even make you take Calc 2 if you’re going to be a liberal arts major. For AP kids who aren’t as interested in stem I think Stats can be a good choice. That said, teachers can also make or break an AP class so that’s also something to take into consideration.

My school doesn't require Calc AB before Calc BC. Though I didn't activate my Asian genes correctly back then so I missed out on the Calc BC chance.

Since I didn't take Pre Calc Honors (I took ACC instead), I can only take Calc AB for senior year. It's not the end of the world though, I enjoy math and look forward to a good year of Calc AB.

I'm also excited to create that Calc AB project at the end of the year where you create a music video or movie based on the Calc AB curriculum.

I think I've gotten a jump start anyways considering a wise Indian friend once told me, "just study the curriculum on Khan Academy over the summer". It's working like a charm! I've studied about 5-6 units out of the 8 in the Calc AB curriculum on Khan Academy within just a month (at the time of commenting this).

PS (1): When you reply to my comments, I have no idea which one of you is actually replying. Not to beg, but it'd be nice to know which one of you Mr. AP's respond haha!
PS (2): I did mention a video or short about your AP CSP Create Task. As a YouTuber myself, I understand it might be a bunch of work just to upload one video/short because someone requested it. Maybe it'd be simpler if you just made a community post for your AP CSP Create Task.

If you’re okay at math, take bc. If you really struggle with math, just take AB. You’ll benefit more from a slower paced class.

I had to be in class at 6:55 in the morning many mornings for Calc BC my Junior year
I got a 5, took the equivalent of Calc 3 senior year, and soon i'm going to be testing out of Calc 3 with the knowledge I have from that class, so it was worth it

Def taking BC next year, I’ve always been ahead of my math classes n I’m really looking forward to take a college level course. Also my physics teacher taught us Integrals and Derivatives so we could take the C test. Already got the basics down 🤷‍♂️

My school doesn’t offer Calc BC, but I’ll see what I can do before registering for Junior Year. I’m also trying to do some other AP classes our school doesn’t offer like AP Physics, so I have a feeling the counselors might hate me soon. (They have a record for not liking students who overachieve. It means more work for them.)

i really wish they also had a ap calc 3 or something like that. im stuck doing ap stats (i took calc bc as a junior and now im a senior) and not higher level math because calc 3 at our high school doesn't even give any college credit (unless we take some weird placement exam at our local community college, but there is no guarantee any other school will even take that credit)
