Leche Puto (Puto Flan)

Leche Puto (or puto flan or Leche flan puto) is a filipino dish and a combination of two delicious merienda/dessert Leche flan and Puto. In this leche puto recipe, you can enjoy these two dessert in one. Another things is that it is easy to make and will only use a few ingredients.

Ingredients
For Puto Layer
1 cup flour
2 ½ tsp. baking powder
½ cup sugar
1 egg
100 ml. milk (fresh milk or evaporated milk)
¼ cup water
1 tsp. vanilla extract
For Leche Layer
4 egg yolks
1 cup condensed milk
2 tsp. lemon or calamansi juice
Procedure
Bring some water to boil for steming. Grease the puto molds by brushing them with melted butter.
Make the leche mixture. In a mixing bowl, combine egg yolks, condensed milk and lemon juice. Mix until well blended.
Pour the mixture into puto molds, filling it to 1/3 full. Steam on low heat for at least 10 minutes or until the mixture is lightly set. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
Make the puto mixture. In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Add milk and egg. Mix until well-blended.
Then add in water and vanilla extract. Mix well.
Pour the mixture over the cooled flan, filling 2/3 of the molds or almost to the top. Steam low heat for around 10 – 12 minutes or until the puto has risen and set.
Remove from heat and let it cool. Gently remove from the molds.
