'Bad Son, Good Sun' - a Varian fansong

Storytime! I've wanted to write a fansong ever since I first found out about them (like four years ago). However, I could never find the right show or come up with the best lyrics or really make something I was proud of. That's why I started playing around with the idea of writing one for Varian. I freaking love that little scientist boy. So, I tried to write something, I hope you like it.

I really wish someone with some proper equipment and musical knowledge could rerecord this whole thing. Can you imagine some sick guitar and epic vocals? Still, the piano ballad is cool. I have a grand piano, but it's really hard to record it. Probably would sound better live.

That being said, if anyone wants to cover the song, download it, make an animatic, whatever have at it (just be sure to credit me). If you want to download the song, I don't have a link for you, but you can always go to one of those "download youtube videos to mp3" websites and pop in the link. But if anyone does anything with this, let me know because it would make my day!

I fell into the Tangled fandom a few weeks ago and I fell in love with Varian a long while before that. (Not ashamed to admit I entered the Tangled fandom because of Varian XD). I've been looking for content of him all over the internet and then I find THIS!

I don't even know how to express how uterly GRATEFUL I am that you made this super amazing song! I think this song fits Varian SO WELL, like "why isn't this in the show?!" well! I especially love that the whole song is from Varian's point of view. I mean, he did so many bad things, but in his mind he's just trying to be *a good son*
I also feel like the representation of Rapunzel as the sun is more than just literal. I mean, just by describing her as "the good sun" throughout the song, there's a lot of symbolism that means more than the fact she's the Sundrop and I love that soooo much!

I think my absolute favorite line of the song is in the last stanza that says "I am the bad son, the bad son, but you made me bad, Sun". Not just because the line is painfully true, but because of the overwhelming emotion you gave it! Your entonation was so perfect that I swear I just saw Varian, hurt, angry and betrayed, saying that to Rapunzel. It's completely heartbreaking and amazing at the same time. I really really loved your song SO MUCH!

Keep up the amazing work! (And maybe pls give us more Varian content?) :D

The song to listen is pain, not a phisical pain but psychical pain. It hit right through my feelings, the kind of mood this song has is incerdible. I love it with all my might though its depressing and very very sad and everytime after listening to it I need to clean up puddle of tears, but that's a virtue of this masterpiece! I love this song so much. From the very beginning it's just so real and emotional and it delves into Varian ' s character so well. I love the little hints of backstory and I love the way you showed how lonely and desperate he felt and how important Rapunzel was to him and how he saw her as the sun and then how he can't trust her anymore after she betrayed him but the verse leading up to "but saviors don't betray" he wants to believe her and go back to those happy times but he can't and I have so many feelings. I've listened to this so many times and I will never get tired of it, this is incredibly written and performed ("I am not a bad son" makes me cry every time, and "you made me bad, Sun" gave me chills!) and I just love everything about it so much!

This is so good. Like the lyrics, your voice, the way it stab you in the heart. It’s so amazing and it fits Varian so well. Like the only thing that could top this is if the voice actor for Varian and Rapunzel themselves sang a cover of this.
