Mitsubishi ASX SUV review - CarBuyer

The Mitsubishi ASX is one of a growing number of SUV-inspired family cars that have been introduced to compete against conventional hatchbacks like the Volkswagen Golf. Described as a crossover, it blends together the commanding driving position of an off-roader, with fuss-free hatchback-style handling.

from person which owns one (me) :

- lots of space.. even for a damn chewing gum which means it's a real Utility car.
- again real utility car because it is not made from some luxury material, and packing lots of stuff that can make things dirty isn't going to hurt anyone and cleaning is easy.
- great family car too... space for leg space and again, cheaper insides make it better for kids inside... if you know what i mean.
- Great off roader... a true off roader.
- handles with two fingers on the highway... plus cruise control... driving this and having a meal on long journey isn't a big deal, and with butter smooth suspension too.
- looks good... reminds me of evo :D so i mean... a family guy that needs a "family car" can still feel good when looking at it.
- Good amount versions to chose from as design continues for many years. cheap out if you want or go expensive for something new is your choice... this car is suited to everyone richer or poor.
_ it's a tall car... which means safety... which also has air bags everywhere.
- The tall dudes are comfy too. I drive my asx with a dude from work and he is 2 meters tall... really special kind of tall... he has enough room left for his head even on the speed bumps. :)

Oh i forgot to mention, decent speakers in there... loud and good base for music, heated front seats, warms up inside quick too when cold, gear stick feels like a well oiled 19th century lever from some industrial machine... it's just oddly satisfying, oh yeah... and automatic wipers and light sensors... what have you got to lose? some noise when you drive? I don't even notice that. but apparently it's noisy for reviewers. Like... as if there's something negative to say about it as i can't find anything to be honest, especially when this is a known brand for being reliable too.

I have Mitsubishi ASX for 6 years now, and 100k miles, and i didn't replace any parts yet, except brake pads 3 times (front)... even the windshield wipers are original :D love the car!

I just got my new Mitubishi ASX. I'm so satisfied. This review really did help me. The seeling point for me was the rockford fosgate audio system, as I wasn't planning on upgrading my audio system later on. The car is soo worth the money.

That hole which makes the test driver wondered is position for awd knob. This car must be a 2wd.

we just bought a mitsubishi asx and everything mat said in his video is correct, we love the car only issue you might have is that the boot is not that big and if you buy the car with the boot cover can get in the way when you want to put larger things in, also the sound from the columns yeah can get annoying at speeds over 130-140 km but is a great car and pretty fast (got the 1.8d 150 hp.)

In all your videos, at the end, you never really give a proper conclusion. You just say that it's either reliable or good looking or well priced or all together. But what this means is that all of your conclusions are positive. And for me it's very hard to compare, let's say Nissan Qashqai and this ASX because you liked both of them. All cars can't be good! C'mon man...

Great review as always, this guy should be on tv. I think they look good iwhen you see one in the metal. MPG is good as well especially if you check the real user figures (see honest john)

I was going to write the same - but in another way. No need to insult anyone...

So, yes, they used the 2WD version (the one I have) and I'd also say that it's a bit noisy over 130km/h, and that the interior is bland.

Handling is good enough for me - I never expected a Golf GTI. Downsides: the 2WD can sometimes lose grip as there's too much torque sometimes, and, at least in Spain and France, Mitsubishi spares and revisions are more expensive than Audi's and BMW's...(600€ every 15.000km...)

Yeti has got a bit sportier suspension. Turbocharger and DSGs are questionable regarding reliability.

ASX is roomier and more relaxed, but it can be sporty and mean too. With little tweaking ;)

@TheHornyHomunculus I owned a VW and 2 SEAT cars, had no problem. I know bought my 4th new car the Nissan Qashqai and I can tell you I LOVE IT. It's so smooth on the road can't feel bumps, noise reduction is superb and when you drive you think you're not touching the ground. To be honest fed up with VW who say's they're top, they've got their problems. NISSAN FOREVER.

Could do with an extra 15 HP to make it near class leading. But I like the car.
