Incredible Copenhagen Fields model railway layout

The Model Railway Club’s epic depiction of the approaches to Kings Cross in 2mm Finescale has outlived several of its original creators. The dedicated surviving team, ably led by Tim Watson has produced one of the most well-known, and famous, model railway layouts on the circuit. It’s prototype modelling at its very best. In fact, it’s probably the most famous layout on the current circuit.

I have seen 100's of magnificent layouts over the years (decades), but each time I see Copenhagen Fields I am reminded... this is the one. It brilliantly captures the essence of London at that time.

My mind is simply boggling at the invention, skill and sheer hard work that has gone into this. So many layouts are, through necessity, primarily a railway with a bit of scenery around it, but this is a full landscape with a railway in it, if you see what I mean, and it's all the better for it. Brilliant!

Absolutely beautiful, so much attention to detail that I never knew 2mm could look so good. I instantly thought of an old film The Ladykillers.

I never considered using different scale models to create the illusion of perspective.

This layout keeps me stunning every time I see it.
The brass strip fiddle yard is a very clever idea, never to worry about track ends coming loose on the base board ends, due to cost you could apply this method for the last couple of inches on each board and use plain track in between.

Just wonderful. That is the huge advantage of 2mm scale, you can put whole trains in the landscape.

The false perspective is done very well on this layout. The effect is stunning.

I wish my grandfather could see this he was a driver on LMS . I was a signalman for nearly 50 years, and one thing on your beautiful model layout that was a NO, NO. On the real railway, was a brake van in front of a loco . It was considered a dangerous thing to do.

An N scale Pendon. I remember well the rave reviews and articles in magazines for months, years, as it progressed. An inspirational layout on so many levels, literally. 👍👍👍👍👍

I have a Graham Farish Voyager that is coming up on 200km/125 miles. Still runs amazing with just basic servicing. Do love Copenhagen Fields.
