Museum Island (Museumsinsel) - Berlin (Germany)

Museum Island (German: Museumsinsel) is an island on the River Spree, located in the city center of Berlin, in the district of Mitte, Germany. In the past, the great Berliner Stadtschloss, demolished in 1950 by the communist government of the German Democratic Republic, was regarded as an unacceptable reminder of imperialism.
