India's Stock Markets Touch Record High; Surpass $5 Trillion in Valuation | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Indian stocks have achieved a new record. This week, Indian stock markets surpassed the $5 trillion-mark in valuation. Only America, Japan and China have stock markets valued higher than the current market capitalisation of Indian stocks. Experts state that this growth is being driven by retail investors, who have increased their investments in Indian stocks significantly in recent years. In the last one year alone, the value of their assets has seen a 44% surge. India's stock markets were valued at $4 trillion in November, 2023. Palki Sharma tells you more.

This makes me happy because FDI is always a risk. So the fact that markets are stable despite short selling gives me confidence.

Minor Correction: BSE is Asia's oldest stock exchange, not just Bharat's (India's). Please let everyone know this through your voice and reach!

Usually for growing markets, Mkt cap is between 1.1-1.3 x GDP. So, right now it's fairly valued if you take 1 year forward projections.
By 2030, GDP is expected to be $7.5 tn. So, Mkt. Cap will double from here to $10tn by 2030.
Needless to say, great quality Small Cap and Mid cap stocks will rise anywhere between 10 to 20x the current valuations.
Ladies and gentlemen we are in a long term Bull market which started from the bottom of 2020 and will culminate somewhere around 2028-2029. After a correction for a couple of years due to mainly global factors, stock market will again resume rally from 2031.

Previously, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) would trigger market crashes to repurchase stocks at lower prices. However, now they are finding this strategy challenging due to the increasing influence of retail investors.

The central government's debt was ₹155.6 trillion, or 57.1% of GDP, at the end of March 2023 and the debt of State governments was about 28% of GDP. As stated by the Finance Ministry, India's public debt-to-GDP ratio has barely increased from 81% in 2005-06 to 84% in 2021-22, and is back to 81% in 2022-23
