I don’t think even the best of us are totally ready for whats coming

All we can do is our best. I have no basement and certainly can't afford my own fall out shelter. The amount of earth, concrete or lead needed for such a venture is beyond my means and ability. I can stay indoors and I can stay in the center of the house, away from windows and walls, but that's about the extent of it. If it's my time then there isn't much I can do about it. Pray for the best and prepare for the rest.

I live in Chicago by O’ Hare Airport and always worry if we will get hit. Im only 10 minutes from the airport. No shelters for us . Never thought this could happen in my lifetime age 59.
I went through a lot of my preps today and I feel good with what all I have. Just wish this house was bigger so I can hide items better and able to afford the major nuke supplies. Doing the best I can with a hubby who isn’t on board with me.
Stay safe everyone!

A few shelters here in Fort Worth, TX are actually sealed off. Many of them now require a key if they can still be accessible that is. As far as suburban exploring I'd love to allegedly pick the lock to one of them to see if any supplies are available. I know some of the old bunkers located across Europe esspecially in old soviet countries they were auctioned off or remained open, but abandoned with the remaining supplies. Loads of soviet era gas masks remained.

Switzerland has the best because every home has a Nuke bomb shelter. Even apartments have them below buildings.

My sister-in-law is a prepper like I am. We've spoken about this possibility. We've agreed to gather at her weekend place if this happens. It has a basement. I have a Geiger counter.

Thanks for the tips. This is the best prepping channel. We are an hour away from LA. No fall out shelters, unfortunately, but will hunker down in two windowless areas in center of house with supplies and pray. 😮

Majority of U.S. population will have to deal with the fallout.... Goshen Prepping do a video on prevailing wind direction and speeds please. For all 50 states! Hawaii and Alaska are potential first strike targets as well.

About shelters, check Helsinki, Finland.

I don't think Chicago would notice. Just another deadly weekend.

Old bunkers might notbe techniquely viable, but wouldn't it be better than unprepared homes?

Realistically, I think it's all an academic discussion. Were they to nuke any one of those, we'd have a retaliatory response, and then they would have one, and we'd have another, and so on and so on. Dr. Strangelove's mineshaft proposal is sounding better and better.

Oh. I read this one yesterday.
I live just outside of Houston, and with the frequent military nuclear response trainings they're doing down here I've been getting pretty nervous.
There's no shelters, millions of people, and the roads would be blocked by either early response or panicked residents.
The water table is so high here that if you tried digging out an expedient shelter it would quickly fill with water whenever it rains, which happens frequently. As the water table is so high, almost no buildings even have basements to use.

It would be an absolute nightmare scenario.

When it comes to fallout, it depends on whether it was an airburst or ground strike. An airburst strike has much less fallout but has a much higher kill radius. Either way it would be devastating…
