Sadhguru urged residents of UAE to be part of his 4 billion voices for his #savesoil mission

Dubai: Once a yogi turns into an environmentalist, he has so many ways and reasons to join the cause other than only scientific data. When Sadhguru was interacting with Emirati people, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and Indian Community businessmen and members at the office of the Consulate General of India in Dubai, he was talking to bring global consciousness towards preventing soil degradation.

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is on a 100-day journey from Britain to India. The visit was part of Sadhguru’s agenda during the UAE stop on his ‘Journey to Save Soil’ from London to the southern tip of India, spanning 100 days, 30,000 kilometers, and 27 countries. Through his solo motorcycle trip, he aims to address the soil crisis by bringing together people from around the world to stand up for soil health and supporting leaders in developing and implementing national policies to save soil.

Sadhguru said that the UAE is doing an amazing effort to save the soil and environment and it could be a leader in this sector in the coming future. UAE, which will host the Cop28 climate summit next year, is demonstrating its skill to fertilize the deserts, which is an unlivable job and it could grow the rainforest in the future. It’s a leader in business, airlines, and tourism and It can be a leader in ecology also.

“The UAE government has been most progressive. While the rest of the world is busy turning fertile land to desert, it’s wonderful to see here how deserts are being converted to fertile land,” he said.

Sadhguru informed that UAE has become the 74th nation that has signed an agreement with his movement for the preservation of the soil.

He alerted that this year, at least six nations will go into serious famine conditions. Last year the World Food Programme spent $9 billion distributing food. This year it is asking for $15 billion and for next year this figure is more than $20 billion.

Sadhguru warned of famines, food, and water shortages. He told that wars are happening for fertile land and unfortunately the standard healthy soils are going down day by day. Healthy soil with at least 3 to 6 percent organic content can provide more nutritious food, ensure water retention and reduce erosion, but currently, this ratio is hardly available in the Asian region.

He called for soil regeneration to be on the policy agenda of every government and the announcement of incentives for farmers who hit a 3 percent target of organic content, which Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation is already doing. They are working with more than 130,000 farmers in India to boost organic content, with strong results and rewarding them with carbon points.

From Dubai, Sadhguru will head to Muscat and then to Jaipur in India, from where he will travel through the country to end the journey in the southern city of Mysore on June 20.
