Sarah Palin really was the big turning point in modern day (2024) politics. This movie really accurately shows how we got to our current chaotic political system. Her answers to the FED and Iraq questions make zero sense to anyone who is actually knowledgeable on the subject but the thing is most Americans aren't well educated on how the US government works or current foreign policy decisions. So her going for an emotional appeal to their righteous anger actually does work. Basically, Sarah proved that you don't have to know anything about running a government to be elected, you just have to put on a show and win a popularity contest.

Meanwhile, you have people like John McCain and his staff who do know better (a reflection of the establishment GOP) and KNOW it's dangerous for someone that under qualify and unstable to be in such a high position of power, and yet they don't care so long as they win. At no point do they have a serious discussion about replacing Sarah with another VP, even if it costs them the election, because that's in the best interest of the country. Basically a lot of politicians talk about country first, but when push comes to shove they always justify putting their own self interest first.

That's how the MAGA party took over the GOP.

Julianne Moore did SUCH a good job at recreating the whole "deer in headlights" look that Palin gave in interviews. When he asked her if she knew what FED means, her eyes said FUCK.

I didn’t even realize that this wasn’t really the actual Sarah Palin!!! I thought that Tina Fey was the only one he could pull this off, but my Julianne Moore NAILED this!!!

Julianne Moore was awarded for this performance with a well-deserved Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a MIni-Series or Movie.

Remember when we thought Palin was the bottom, the lowest things could possibly sink in US politics?

In retrospect, that was absolutely adorable.

This was the beginning of, “I have no idea what I’m doing but expertise is overrated. I’ll just maverick the shizzle out of it.” This is how we wind up having trump.

"Donald, what's your priority when it comes to our nuclear triad?"

"Well, first of all, I think we need somebody that we can trust, who is totally responsible, who really knows what he or she is doing. That is so powerful and so important, and of the things that I frankly am most proud of, in 2003, 2004, I was totally against going into Iraq because you're going to destabilize the middle east. I called it, I called it very strongly, and it was very important. But we have to be extremely vigilant and extremely careful when it comes to nuclear. Nuclear changes the whole ballgame."

Bravo Julianne Moore, what a performance. I'm no Palin fan, but I actually had more empathy for her after watching this movie.

This is an actual nightmare of so many people. Like when you dream that you’re about to go on stage as the star of a play, and you don’t know any of the lines. Omg anxiety just thinking about it!

A career politician that knows less than my pizza delivery man(no offense as they are smarter than most)about current affairs, history, geography and geopolitics of the world. An American Pride indeed.

I remember being terrified about this woman possibly becoming VP and possibly the President... Now this all looks cute by comparison to what happened during the next election. Little did we know that this was just a sample cup with one of those cute little pink sample spoons, the vat full of the real shit yet to be served up was still cooking...

Back in the day, the 80s, I lived in Anchorage. Sarah Palin (Heath then) was the sports reporter at KTUU ch 2 in Anchorage. Watching her broadcasts it was obvious she didn't know 💩 about any sport other than basketball. It was obvious someone other than her wrote the copy she was reading. The running joke among media types was trying to figure out who she must be schlupping to keep her job.

Remember she is a college graduate. She was trying to learn BASIC High School Economics and US History while on the campaign trail . There are stuff I dont know, but I won't pretend I do know it and spit out wrong answers .

It's not her ignorance that makes Sarah Palin such a hateful figure - plenty of politicians have taken office without complete knowledge of their office or world affairs and still done well. What's hateful about her is that she stubbornly refuses to improve herself or learn more about the broader world, or the people or the government she claims she's ready to lead. Instead she clings to her ignorance and tries to turn it into a badge of honor.

She was the writings on the wall for what was to come in 2016.

I think we've all been there, trying to explain something to someone and having to tell them "Don't write, just listen."
