This channel is awesome! Leahs voice is so calm and crystal clear to listen to and understand a child could comprehend everything she’s explaining. The vibe of the channel reminds me of something akin to a TV show for kids on PBS or some other network in the 80s and 90s… I would have watched and definitely had been interested in tackling home improvement at a much earlier age. 😃

Thanks, Leah. I am sure lots of people can learn from this series. As a girl, I was not allowed to take shop class. Now, as an adult, I could do whatever I want, but I don’t have the knowledge, skills, or access to tools.

Nice to see you again Lea. My dad inverted a hand circulator saw too do the same thing. Scared mum and I to death. He was a fully trained joiner/carpenter. But it’s still scared the life out of us both. 😊🙈❤️🙏

I like to use a piece of scrap 2x4 that is about a foot long as a sacrificial push stick. If it gets too cut up on the end, I cut 1/2 an inch off and start a fresh. It can be nice to not damage your plastic push stick if the blade might make contact with it.

Thanks for sharing this. Too many safety issues with power tools that are glossed over.

You are awesome! ❤ You describe things in a way that is really calming to someone who may be using these tools for the first time. I found your channel long ago and have learned a great deal over the years. Your influence has made a tremendous difference! I’m now building a small cabin by myself deep in a remote forest. Thank you for teaching and empowering others! ♥️🤗

I love that you explain things very well. I also do a lot of hands on things in my home. I don't know how to do all of it. But I view tube so many things can you are very knowledgeable. I'm a landscape of my trade. And I also do a lot of carpentry work. I basically will learn anything. I can. It's nice to see a woman that knows more than most men. I'm gonna be going to your videos from now on.. You do a really good job

In April of 1998 on a brand new just assembled out of the box table saw, I was ripping a bunch of boards when the board kicked back (I hadn’t installed the guard yet) and two fingers made contact. One was nicked and the other got a few stitches and fortunately I still have them both although I thought I was going to lose a section of one. There is limited feeling in one fingertip still 25 years later. The worst part is I’m in the trades my whole adult life and of all places it happened in my house on a weekend.
So listen to Leah and never get caught off guard. You have no idea how cautious I’ve been ever since this happened because in my mind something like this won’t happen but it did. I’m now retired after 47 years and I look at my hands and think phew, I was so lucky all 10 are still there.
May it never happen to anyone else reading this.
Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

Love your videos. Great advice. Haven't seen your videos in a while. Missed seeing you always give excellent advice.

Many people don't realize that the blade setting he shows is also the most efficient way to cut. The low level adjustment allows for the maximum number of blade teeth in the work piece at any given time. Adjusting the blade high puts fewer teeth in the work and is less efficient.

I’m a little skittish around a table saw. I try to make sure my thumb doesn’t pass the front edge of the table. That makes it hard for a finger to get far enough to catch the blade.

Another safety tip I was taught. NEVER stand directly in line with the stock being cut. ALWAYS stand off to the side in case of kickback. Maybe you could expand on the various safety tips when using a table saw. I’m sure your viewers would be interested.

Table saws are much more dangerous than radial arm saws

Love the information it all depends on wood some are softer and other are harder so speeds and feeds are important like different metals same situation

I think a band saw is much much better than a table saw for rip cuts specifically. I also think that a modest but quality band saw setup has a lower barrier to entry cost and safety wise. There are also so many processes that can be done with a band saw that a table saw can’t touch, and the band saw can do almost anything the table saw can do with some critical thinking. Definitely my desert island “floor space” machine
