Best of Girls Get Equal Live Summit: Are Girls and Women Free To Be Online?

On 6th and 7th October 2020 Plan International Germany hosted the first digital Girls Get Equal Live Summit.
The summit was focused on Plan’s latest State of the World’s Girls‘ Report “Free to be Online?“.
During the first day, young activists shared their own experiences with online harassment and their coping mechanisms. They also discussed how Girls Get Equal Freedom Online and adressed their demands to powerholders.
The second day focused on three main questions: How do girls and women gain equal access to ICT? How does the Internet become a safe space for girls and women? What opportunities does the Internet offer girls and young women to advocate for their interests?
These questions were answered during a diverse online panel discussion.
