I use a combination both methods. I start with a handful, much like this gentlemen, but then I deliberately open each one individually with precision tongue movements and eject the shells one by one.

Here in turkey, we don’t eat them like that. First we bite the shell so it breaks and put the shell in the bin or something, and then we just eat the seed
