The BIGGEST key imo, to great singing, always comes back to a developed mixed voice. Still shocks me how much established vocalists do not get this.
Always love your videos!!!!

I have tried to get better 1% today, what I found out with the ‚weird‘ exercise is that it teaches my body to keep my tongue from retracting as I keep the tongue in the ei position and let the sound travel freely into nasal resonance even when I open from the rd sound to eg an a - this is a big success for me 😊😎 maybe it‘s not the intention of the exercise but anyhow it got me there - thank you from my heart, Tyler❣️❣️❣️

Love that piece of advice at the end! I have tried to become a better singer for around seven years, it’s been a real struggle with ups and downs, with many different exercises, courses and tips. But after all those years I still felt like haven’t really made a lot progress.
But I started to identify one of my main problems and that was tension. Even when not singing, but also while singing. So I said, I’m gonna focus on just that one thing now. So i set the goal of making jaw/neck stretching exercises that I find helpful every single day and instead of crazy scale exercises or trying to sing difficult songs I would only hum and focus on never tensing up even on higher notes. So i would hum (mainly just from top to bottom of my range and back, in fluid motion not scale) throughout the day whenever I could, cause It can’t really hurt your voice I guess, but keeps it trains it.

Those were the two things I started doing every single day. They are easy and quick to do (small goal).
I was shocked when after about one month one morning I had a voice like I never had before. It’s weird, I never thought singing could work like that, I though it’s all steady gradual improvement, but it was like suddenly the wall between me and my voice let some light through.

Now after about 3 months doing this I have made More Progress than in my whole 7 years. Just by humming and some stretching exercises and doing it EVERY SINGLE DAY.
I could have made a yearly program with crazy exercises, that take a lot of time everyday and it probably wouldn’t have gotten me this far.

I have still a lot to improve, but I finally feel like I have sone perspective and I feel more and more connected to my voice everyday.

I would say, try to identify your problem(s) and focus on it. Don’t be afraid of going back to basics, doing simple things or things that sound weird.
And try to find a way you can improve on your problem consistently with small goals. Make a routine that is too ridiculously easy to not do every day.

I think this goes mostly for people who are really struggling with their singing and feel stuck, like me, I didn’t feel my voice at all, had no control over it, bad tone, no mixed voice and so on.

Just thought I would share my experience it might help or encourage somebody.

I’m not the expert here, Tyler is, but if you have any questions about my personal experience/journey I‘m happy to answer

This is crazy I’m literally practicing this right now and this video popped up must be God sent🙏 i’ve been training my voice for about 5 years now and the whole time I’ve literally had headphones on when I practice and sing every time, which has helped I can sing pretty good without even hearing my voice just with the vibrations but now that I’m trying to practice more off the sound and without headphones it’s Like a whole new different experience for me . It’s been a lot harder to kind of figure out the volume verse Intensity so this video has come at a perfect time thanks for the awesome material bro keep it up!!

Fantastic video Tyler! I have a question about mixed voice: when singing in a mix, should I feel some kind of vibration in my mouth or on my lips?

Lower the volume but keep the buzz in your voice.

Hey Tyler, could you make a video about the voice sounding "scratchy"? if that makes sense? When I am practicing just one vowel while singing in mix, it sounds alright, but then when I actually sing a song in mix, my voice gets scratchier the more I sing in it

Can the mixed voice training benefit baritones? I want to be able to hit at least a C5 in my mixed voice like tenors do. Also is Tyler a tenor?

I've wanted to sing all my life and for some odd reason noone is ever able to tell me how to, what I'm listening for, etc.
They can sing yet can't explain to me how to sing.
I wish I could afford to learn from a professional wth is the issue.
I know I can carry a tune. I don't know keys and notes and how mine sound compared to others, etc.
Idk, it's weird. Weeiiirrrrduh, lol...
