📰 It's no secret that "The Exorcist" remains a cornerstone of horror cinema, adapting William Peter Blatty's chilling novel to the silver screen. Yet, rumors have persisted over the years, with critics and fans alike questioning whether Friedkin made the right decisions in adapting the source material. Enter the curious journalist who boldly confronted Friedkin about these very claims.

🕵️‍♂️ However, what this journalist didn't anticipate was Friedkin's unrelenting grasp on the truth. In a fascinating turn of events, it becomes clear that the journalist's allegations were far from genuine. Unbeknownst to the journalist, William Friedkin had a keen sense for deception and wasn't about to let false claims tarnish the legacy of his masterpiece.

I just resaw it on theater 50th anniversary. What a terrifying movie and the acting epic. The detective the Mother and the priests all great. I would say that modern horror films lack a quality story line just stupid jump scares

Mick Garris and Friedkin did an interview like 10 years ago and they seemed like pals. This was a very long time ago and they were both different people at the time. It was cool to see them shoot the shit in the more recent interview. No bad blood between the two

THAT'S MICK GARRIS, DUDE! HORROR ICON; director, producer, writer, biographist. And Friedkin did leave out "meatier" parts of the book, but Blatty wrote the script anyway. A direct adaptation with everything in the novel (Karl's daughter and the psychic Mary Jo Parrin at the party for instance) wouldn't work quite the same as a 3 hour movie or 2-part miniseries.

That journalist was taught a valuable lesson.

Blatty left out the meaty parts, he wrote the script he and Friedkin agreed upon. The first script asked for Black and White Flashbacks and Karras to be implicated in Denning's murder; on paper, the opening credits sequence ran for 20 minutes! The first Exorcist script might as well be a rough draft of something, but its interesting to look-see.

This interviewer sounds like the BBC guy asking Elon about increased hate speech on Twitter. He also couldn’t name anyone who said the things in question.
