Singers gather from all over the world to attend a Sacred Harp singing at Liberty Baptist Church in the small rural town of Henagar, Alabama. The historic Sacred Harp hymns and anthems date back to the 1840's. Attendees talk to Reckon about why they participate in Sacred Harp and what it means to them.

I use to go to the little primitive church on cheaha mountain for sacred harp signings as a child I was deeply touched and fell in love which is why it went from a novelty my grandparents were showing me to something I had to go to as often as possible. Now at 32 they're both gone and greatly deeply missed I haven't been to a "fasola" singing in years but to this day I can hear a hymn in fasola style and as soon as they the notes begin I cant help but cry it's a very powerful experience I have to go soon.

I’m one of the Haynes family that has a reunion in Section Alabama. We sing every reunion. I’m proud to be part of the family.

Where in Alabama is this church? I think it might be where my family lives. Is it near Prattville or Millbrook?
