Yeah I think I'm going to give Ubuntu another try, I like the customization and software is easy to install and it seems that there is more software that is developed for Ubuntu vs other Linux systems...by the way, your dog's bark @ 29:43 scared the crap out of me :)

This one is highly polished, stable but still relatively slow. For older machines to resurrect, like older Thinkpads I use Peppermint OS.

Thanks for the video. I found 2 great tweaks for this desktop! You can move the "show applications" button from the bottom to the top via dconf editor. You can also make the apps minimize by clicking them in the dock with that same tool :)

Good video AJ, but in my opinion, Ubuntu Mate is now the best of the Ubuntu flavor's. I would also install Xubuntu on older hardware.

Great video AJ, Just recently found your channel.
I do want to point out one thing regarding that last bit about letting Ubuntu select the "fastest" downloading mirror.. I've read multiple times that it determines the server by using your location and ping timing and not the actual bandwidth speeds of the server itself.
There is a helpful tool called Netselect that can determine the fastest repo mirror in a much more efficient way, giving you a list to choose from instead of picking one automatically.

Useful video; I also have problems with slow startup, but otherwise good. (Minor quibble: the middle syllable is pronounced more like the oo in book, not the u in fun, but no matter. It's an African language word.)

Great video! If you have the chance please review Kubuntu. I've heard that the latest KDE stable is really gret. I'm between Kubuntu, KDE Neon or waiting for openSUSE Leap 15.

Worst release since 14.04
Wine doesn't work anymore, RDP doesn't work, I don't even have the span option foe the background image so I let it black in fact it is so bad that I really have no reasons to use it anymore aside the fact linux in general is more fun then windows. For the first time since 12.04 I am in a market for a new distro.

I like Ubuntu and I like gnome but I still don't think it's for a new user well not as good as a few other distributions

I still don't understand why Ubuntu wants to FORCE new users and Windows users over to such a bad UI for PC's . In my view XFCE/MATE is much better for anyone that wants a proper traditional UI instead of touch screen UI like Windows 10 and gnome 3.x
