It sounds absurd that a person is sent in for a temp job (and should be happy to get it for the day) and then tells the company what she will and will not wear. I would have told her these are the requirements wear them or leave. Keep in mind this is only a person hired as a temp employee not someone promoted to CEO.

Why don't we make sure all dress codes are unisex, so women have to wear suits. Everyone happy? What? Women wouldn't like that? Why not?? OOOOH
