IMO, it's not smart to pitch two similar pitchers, in back to back games, against the same team. It was JV yesterday, then JV's clone (and lesser pitcher) today. I guess asking Dusty to use his brain, and game plan, is a little much to expect.

2021 all over again. Top 5 scoring, explosive offense, with maybe one SP you can count on, and a bullpen that's been overworked and mismanaged. Lost 5 of 7 to Yankees that year, and that could possibly happen again, or at least 4 of 7, losing the series in Houston both years.

You're also looking at 90 to 95 wins just like 2021, wondering if Seattle could steal the division from you (I still don't think they will), and with a massive hill to climb to the World Series, mostly open to you simply because the AL is extremely weak.

Phil Maton has become this year's Brooks Raley. Constantly getting slung out there with runners on, asked to put out a fire with nothing more than stick of wood. The guy has over a 7.00 ERA in the last month, and has been garbage in leverage situations, the closer the game (particularly a lead), the worse he does. He's solid as a rock in nice 3 run games in the 5th or 6th inning, a peflrfect mid relief guy. You know who NEEDED to come in that situation? Neris. Quite literally a magician in leverage spots like that one, he gets BETTER the higher the stakes, and then you go to Maton for a clean 6th, Montero has a sub 2.00 ERA the last 2 months and guess what? When hes pitched in the 7th inning this year hes goddam unhittable! Look at how perfectly that works out! He pitches the 7th, Abreu 8th, Pressly 9th.

But no. We get Daily Raley all over again with Phire Hose Phil Phlailing all over the place being asked to do something hes NOT CAPABLE OF, because Dusty has to just pitch guys in their assigned inning instead of trying to actually match up who's best suited for what situation.

Wow, Maton only let 2 runs score, that's an incredibly inning for him since he usually gives up at least 3 runs. Oh well, we lost by 1 run, thanks anyways Maton.
