Yep. In WA, unions aren't allowed to strike if it harms the economy... So... they essentially they aren't allowed to strike unless the government knows it will serve their agenda. This was introduced a long time ago to the sound of crickets because everyone believed unions were the enemy thanks to main stream media and big business campaigns. It was done by Liberal but Labor are the ones using the powers now. Both are two sides of the same coin.
It makes sense they are now going after people's ability to say bad things about the government. They've already got a whole leg in the door.
I just sit back and laugh. Everyone who was applauding stopping unions are now complaining about free speech and right to protest. People should have cared 10-12 years ago while you cheered or sat in silence as your free speech was removed.
Oh... and you are talking about a bank owned by the Commonwealth? Wowsers... I wonder what we should call it. The... Commonwealth Bank?

This Albanese government campaigned on "transparency".
I had never heard the term "Public Interest Immunity" until this government.
Now it pops up on a regular basis when MPs make contentious decisions and then refuse to explain themselves to the people of Australia.

Peter Zeihan had an interesting comment on this with Japan had its big event back in the 1990s and is now effectively 500% debt to GDP and is still able to kick the can down the road with record borrowing and injecting money into the economy to keep the thing breathing...So a number of countries haven't even hit that situation yet and Japan has been doing it for 30+ years so kicking the can down the road looks like it has plenty of road to go down before it even looks to start being a problem.
