It might start. But remember remote start only works twice. So he probably could have gotten it started going in the vehicle

Eeeesh, that’s rough. A block heater would really help with cold starts. I believe It would also help with keeping the oil more fluid and preventing cylinder scoring. I have a 97 diesel ford, and if I am planning on using the vehicle in the morning I plug the block heater into a timer about 4 hours before use. Timer kicks on at about 3 am. Helps a lot.

Alberta here, my LM2 3.0 started just fine by remote but was also plugged in as it looks like yours isn’t I’m guessing

I wouldn't even have attempted any thing without plugging up 1st.... also if you haven't added conditioner to your tank, all your diesel fuel might be gelled up as well!

-40 is COLD...been in it once, 2003, Snowtrain, Ontario, CA, never again...
Hope your using some sort of anti-gel, if you're not, even plugging it in isn't going to help, especially at this point...

Hello there, could I use the cranking fragments of your video for my coldstarting compilation? Of course I will put a link to your original video in the description, increasing the original’s popularity too. Thanks a lot for you answer in advance :)

Why put your engine through so much stress? Starting at Sub-Zero temperatures is really hard on an engine even if it starts it's really hard on the bearings and especially dull overhead cams. That oil in the pan is like syrup. The block heater doesn't take that much electricity I would just plug in anything below 10 reduces the stress on the engine substantially. Thank you
