Using a CASSETTE TAPE in 2024 to mix

In a digital world going into an artificial intelligence world, hardly any new generations have used, or even seen a cassette tape in their lifetime. As someone who also did not grow up with tapes, I needed to discover how they change and interact with mixes in this modern day. I’ll be putting the tapes to the test as I record and play back a mix to get to the bottom of the cassette tape craze.

I prefer cassettes for listening to my fav old songs that I used to listen to on tapes when I was younger. Everytime I listen to them on CDs or streaming services, I feel like I'm listening to different versions of the same songs. I know they sound better (more accurate) on digital, but they just don't feel the same. I do, however, use digital media for newer songs. I'm 58 btw.

Hello. Toute une époque. Pour le déphasage avec le logiciel c’est assez normal. Celà vient de l’effort que doivent réaliser les moteurs au regard du volume de bande sur chacun des rouleaux. Celà n’est pas du tout linéaire, sur la durée d’une cassette (sans être drastique, heureusement). Par ailleurs, plus la vitesse de déroulement est rapide, plus la qualité de l’enregistrement est meilleure (les 4 pistes à cassette enregistrent avec une vitesse de déroulement plus rapide que la lecture d’une cassette lambda). This doesn't sound too good.... the rule of thumb for old school recordists (such as those who still trade Grateful Dead tapes) is not to use anything that's double deck and with autoreverse, as the convoluted rubber band introduces inconsistencies. What about Dolby C?
