Welcome to my channel.
Today I have completed the 1st issue of build the Titanic which is all about the Forecastle and other detailed parts. This video includes a review of what is included with this issue and future issues and free gifts for the subscriber. I have also scanned all the pages of the magazine and included them into the video, just pause and read or not read at all.
This was a simple and fun issue to complete and the next issue will be on my channel in 2 weeks time.
Thanks for watching, please subscribe , like, share and leave a comment.

I have just subscribed to your channel as I am just starting to build this Titanic model. I am also building an N gauge model railway (similar scale to the Titanic model). The model railway is 12ft by 6.5 ft ...so it really shows how big the Titanic was when comparing the circa 4ft long Titanic model to the model railway. Thanks John.

Hi John just looking at a few of your videos and I've got to say I've never laughed so much when you said (not a big bit of card) lol its ginormous why do they put such a big bit of card for something so small! I guess it's a kind of sales pitch. Great build take care

One hundred and forty issues, which after the first two is £9.99 is going to cost £1382 ish pounds, you can get the Trumpeter kit for £400, same scale and you will not be waiting month to complete.

This is the second Titanic from Hachette.
They released a 1:250 one back in 2003.
Made of wood

Any reason you didn’t use PVA wood glue/clamps for the forecastle deck as you did in later videos?

Still torn. The glaring unforgiveable baddie on this first issue is Hatch 1 devoid of any detail at all - are the brass bits going to rectify this! Should have two raised hatches and 4 'porthole' type lights. They appear correct on many smaller scale models than this.. Also those 4 - outer two should be wheel valves on 'box like covers' maybe fix that with plasticard or a bit of scrap. Colours? well those capstans which debate runs still "black" or "Green" with the bare 'bronze' top - certainly not white. The breakwaters - 'white' as is (apparently the rear 'wall? of the hatch the other three black (or even 'dark mast' in some circles). Hard to see how they could have done the wood to scale as someone has mentioned but it is wrong as they say, a centre section of the decking here on the focastle was of wider planking anyway and higher. So it should be a good model with plenty for the more advanced modeller to improve upon but 'museum' (or builders model) quality as they state is very far off the mark!

What is a good varnish to use on the wood decking? Will a water base finish work? Thanks for your building instructions.

Looks to be a nice model when complete, if you take the time to correct a few issues. The deck planks being oversized would be difficult to fix though. They look to be 2mm wide, which would translate to 40cm in real life, which is way too wide. To me the problem with partwork models like this is that they usually simplify the detail too much to make the models accessible to newcomers, I cannot see the push-pin system and the fact that every detail is made out of one single part working well for adding the davits for instance. They will probably be too simplified and crude to be scale, and the holes and bottoms of the pins will be visible from the promenade deck.

Fact with a lot of these partworks is that most of them never get completed because people get bored and tired of waiting halfway through, especially newcomers. Usually only the serious modelers push through and complete these partworks, but are then stuck with a simplified model that was supposed to appeal to the newcomers who then left anyway.

Definitely thinking of getting this model but a bit confused on which one, I hear there's a wooden version, which is nice but realistically its not for me. I would prefer the die cast version of the epic liner. But wondering does each set of directions also give color schemes if you wish further the detail by painting individual pieces?
Also wondering in total how much this luxury liner would end up costing once finished? Especially since I'm in America.
I have trumpeter's version, but this one looks beautiful & easier to assemble besides that, it looks to have many extras.
Great video. 😜👍

Great video surprised that the capstans and water break are the correct colour. The tops of the capstans should be brass on top and the rest black. The water break should be white too

I’ve subscribed to this one, a better build than the eaglemoss one.

Nice model but is it felt that the hull plate joints are a bit over emphasized?

I thinking of building this model of the great Titanic seen on tv, How long does it take to complete time wise? An does it need painting? As it's advertised as it does not need paint
