Sergeant Major Williams - Poofs

preview_player
Показать описание
The Sergeant Major is the only real, professional soldier among the concert party and its officers. He is somewhat bigoted in his views, making every effort to bully the Indian camp staff and remind everyone of British supremacy in Asia. He has only one goal in life, namely, to get his soldiers posted up the jungle (and into combat) as fast as he can.

Unfortunately we're never going to see this stuff on tv again.

My dad was in the army and whenever this guy came on he'd be in hysterics laughing on the floor!! He said all sergeant majors were like this, tweaked moustaches, sticking their chests out and screaming!! Ha ha

My dad is Melvyn Hayes he’s been my father for 25 years and I was fostered by him in 1999 at the age of 3 and there is no one else I’d rather have he is the best human being in this world and I love him dearly

I never took much of an interest in this show when I was a kid and then it wasn't repeated much later on, but I've started watching them on DVD as I've always liked Dad's Army and it's by the same writers. I haven't laughed so much in ages. Windsor Davies is fantastic, but the supporting cast are great too, in that clip I loved how Gunner Graham (John Clegg) was really trying his hardest, and failing, not to laugh while Sgt Major Williams was tearing into Gunner Sugden (Don Estelle). It's moments like these that really make the show what it is 😂

The saddest thing of all is with all the rubbish on tv now how you can’t watch it on one of the dozens of channels out there, I mean it was just funny!! And as you can see in the comments how it actually was! It should be on gold for sure!!!!

My granny loved watching this and we’d watch it with her too as kids, her favourite was ‘Shuuuut up!’ My gran said she saw Lofty at a shopping centre selling records of his songs, she said he looked poorly and wouldn’t recognise him with the pith helmet.
Such a loss of Sgt Major as Ranji would say lol
