Life is a series of trade offs. And with expensive as the cost of living is these days, money overshadows just about everything else for so many people. For millions of people, they do not know where their next meal is coming from, so quality of life is completely out the window next to money. About half of the country doesn’t even have $400 saved. That says enough about how important money is.

Ray is not saying money is not important. He is saying your ultimate goal should be happiness. Money is something you use to help yourself achieve the happiness goal. But some people forget this and place making money as the end goal.
