These PUMPKIN SPICE CHURROS are my new fall obsession!
✨Recipe followed:
Churros:
6 tablespoons butter
2 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cinnamon stick
2¼ cups flour
1 large egg
¼ cup pumpkin puree
¾ cups sugar
1 tablespoon pumpkin spice
Oil for frying
Salted Maple Caramel Dipping Sauce:
¾ cups pure dark maple syrup
⅛ cup unsalted sweet cream butter
⅛ cup heavy whipping cream
¼ teaspoon sea salt
Churro Directions:
1. In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, melt butter. Then add in water, salt, vanilla, and cinnamon stick.
2. Bring to a boil, remove from heat, and remove cinnamon stick. Add in the flour and stir until combined well and a dough is formed. Approximately 3-5 minutes.
3. Let mixture cool and then add in pumpkin puree and egg and mix well.
4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Set aside.
5. Pipe 6 inch long dough logs onto prepared baking sheet. Flash freeze for 10 minutes.
5. In a shallow dish, mix together cinnamon and pumpkin spice.
6. In a large skillet, heat oil to 400°. Remove churros from freezer and place frozen dough into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes, flipping often.
7. Remove from oil with tongs and place on paper towel, then immediately roll into pumpkin spice sugar.
8. Repeat with the rest of the dough.
9. Serve with dipping sauce and enjoy! 😊
Dipping Sauce Directions:
1. Pour maple syrup into a deep, heavy-bottomed pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and let simmer, stirring with a spoon, until syrup starts to coat the spoon and has a caramel-like consistency, about 15 minutes.
2. Whisk 1/4 cup butter into the syrup until melted, about 2 minutes. Add heavy cream and salt, whisking constantly to combine. Pour sauce into a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until mostly cooled, about 15 minutes.
