Should you buy Sim Racing Gear from AliExpress?

Looking at 3 products I bought from AliExpress to see if it is worth buying sim racing gear from Ali and if so what to buy and what to avoid. I bought one of those hand brakes from aliexpress but I replaced the sensor with a hall-effect sensor and an arduino and added a spring to the setup and it feels great. Spring cost $4, arduino cost $4 and the hall effect sensor cost 20 cents.

the center bolt on the plate side is for adjusting out the dead zone on the hand brake and they sell a better spring for a couple dollars then the hand brake is fine

I got a Fanatec boost power pack off Ali cost £30uk delivered in less than five business days, works perfect.

The SimJack sequential shifter is really good too - costs about £80 and it’s built like a tank. Great value for money!

Just like anything it depends which product you get. But there's definitely some gems on AE. The simsonn pedals are amazing for the price.

That handbrake lasts me well over 2 years and still going strong. If you are tight on a budget and you just want peripherals for a full car, get handbrake, h shifter and button box from aliexpress they are fine. Even some unbranded cockpits are fine. The only thing you should avoid getting from there is the wheelbase itself

I got a bunch of Q1R knockoffs from Ali and love them. I think I ended up with 4 QR’s for around $130 and they are rock solid on the VRS.

Also bought the SRS shifter for around $100 and it’s great. 👍

Been using that handbrake for years. I find it great. You can also change the preload, I think it's via the big bolt at the back if I remember correctly. I also changed the springs in mine to stronger springs and got a bunch of different lengths and strengths (colors) to experiment with since the springs are so cheap on ali and eb. Fantastic. Heck, you can even buy some cheap bushings / elastomers and use them instead of springs. All for crazy cheap. I can't imagine spending more than this price on a handbrake even though I have a Simucube 2 Pro and Heusinkveld Sequential shifter.

I got that handbrake off Ebay and for the money it was actually pretty good. It broke after a year or so though and I still haven't replaced it.

have that handbrake, it is no longer recognized as an input device just an error in device manager ... not worth the risk

Im getting moza handbrake. One reason being resale value. Simrigs are often like a hot potato, you either update or dont use it and end up selling. I don't want a Frankenstain rig with random parts I have to throw in the bin after an update.

i only use the handbrake for rally i dont mind it i got it 2 years ago no problems. i loved my sim jack mini pedals. the race logic looks pretty good
