The Hot Shot Cut is one of my favorite tricks to do with a deck of cards. It can be used as a stand alone card trick, or be mixed into an ace production routine. It is an extremely impressive move that allows you to shoot a card out of the deck and catch it in your opposite hand. This move was popularized by David Blaine is his "Street Magic" special, but is credited to Daryl.

If you practice enough, you should be able to do almost any move or trick even with small hands. Don't give up!

I tried performing this trick. Failed miserably. Was diagnosed with arthritis a couple of days later

For some of you that are having trouble like i did, it may be due to the fact that you are holding the cards at an angle upwards which makes it a lot harder to flick the card at the end of the trick, i lowered the angle to flat parallel with the ground and it instantly helped :) Hope this helps

Yes, it will be a bit easier with a new deck because the cards are stiffer; but once you practice it for a while you will know how much pressure you need to use depending on the condition of the cards.

While practicing this I always found myself cutting my first finger on the side.
Wearing a band-aid really helps.

little tip for everybody! put your thumb a bit higher to create more pressure to start and shoot the card abit, after that you can find other ways to create pressure!

what i really like about this video is that someone finally explains the hot shot in a rather simple way - tons of YT-tutorial-magicians (not to mention any names ;) ) turn this move into something way to complicated, even though it really should be included into many different routines, because it fits...*subscribed*

Try using a lighter touch on the card that you are pivoting out and hopefully that will prevent any other cards from moving. The stiffer the card the easier it will be to build up energy in the card when you flex it and the faster it will spin. However, once you practice this a lot you should be able to do it with any deck.

For Anyone Having Trouble on make the card fly, try angling the card down.  Yes it doesnt get as far but, it works.

Just the info on placing pack between fingers and chilling out is priceless. as I'm sure everyone practices multiple tricks at once and stretching and sometimes scaring over kind periods of time is the price to pay. as well as shit loads of time 😁

For those who can't shoot out the cards, you can be applying too much pressure on the deck so it's hard for the card the even move out. Relief pressure on your deck by holding the deck with your other hand and have a feel of using just your middle finger rotate the card out
