More torrential rain (200mm+) overnight brought severe flooding to Gympie and saw the Noosa River placed on flood watch. Set off around 7.00am to check conditions. The upper Gympie Terrace stretch was blocked off to traffic past the Islander Resort due to flooding. No sign of serious flooding in the lower estuary at this point although Lake Weyba Drive is cut off half way up. The bar and Main Beach look messy and murky but no dangerous surf at this stage. BOM forecast is for east to south easterly winds 20 to 30 knots. Gusts in excess of 40 knots possible with thunderstorms. Seas: 2 to 2.5 metres. Swell: Easterly 2 to 2.5 metres. Background Music: 'A Ghost Town'... by Quincas Moreira.
