"Erosion of ownership" Thanks Luke that's the best description i have heard for the dystopian trends that are taking hold over every single aspect of our lives.

For now… wait until they start rolling out "DLCs" like "superscalar DLC", "branch-prediction DLC", "floating-point DLC", "MMC DLC", "protected-mode DLC", etc. Basically, buy an 8088-equivalent CPU and pay for "DLCs" to upgrade it to 202x-level CPU. 😒

imagine missing a payment and they just reduce your CPU to 0.1GHz

Intel took "Just download more RAM" too seriously...

You will own nothing and you will be happy. It’s their private corporate property vs your personal property and our public property.

We dont sell couches anymore.
You can rent a new one or you can pay us monthly to unlock a foot rest on your old one.

Can't wait to pay per CPU-hour to continue using the CPU I already paid for.

Absolutely completely unacceptable. I will never ever pay up on anything like this. No matter who does it.

This is making me go team red Intel can go shove it where the sun doesn't shine I'm not going to pay more for a product that i already bought just to enable some features Already on the product itself how isn't this banned by governments yet is insane I'm waiting for Intel to just backtrack and say they weren't serious about it

Imagine when a payment processor has a hiccup and your NAAS, SAAS, and now HAAS all get turned off. We'll fondly look back on the times when we owned things and were miserable.

Let's be honest. This is just gonna end like the the -50% mining hashrate reduction nvidia implemented on their GPUs. Someone will find the code responsible for the unlocking of the extra CPU features. They will find a way to unluck the cpu without paying and then distribute it over the internet. So I guess free extra features for everyone?

The bad thing is that they will get away with it, all of them. The internet rages out for a couple of days or weeks and then there is silence (except a few people). They know that and that's the bad thing. Those things get forgotten too fast these days.

All I'm hearing is never get a Intel CPU.

I see that Intel is bringing back those anti-consumer practices with these software-locked CPU's. They have already done similar things in the past, LMAO. I believe RandomGamingInHD has a video on that.

I kind of like this because someone will figure out how to unlock it without going through the paywall, free upgrade

Yeah I remember them trying to pull that BS where you had to buy a card to unlock performance for your Pentium chip. It's like they don't learn from their mistakes.

As someone who works in the datacenter space, I would like to say... We are essentially no longer using Intel in our new hosts. We have stopped buying Xeon ESXI hosts in our datacenters, we only buy Epyc now. Intel are just digging an enormous hole at the moment. 🤦‍♂

The "allow you to pay" thing drives me nuts... I'd like to allow Intel to pay me to use their processors.

Having worked for both, companies such as BiC Graphics and Hitz Promotional Products use Adobe and we've had to use Pantone colors for certain companies. UPS, BiC (separate than BiC Graphics), etc are under the Pantone colors. I'm wanting to see what happens with the pricing of these promo items now as each designer, sales person, etc will have to have the subscription, which are in the hundreds to thousands. Even the ink masters need to use Adobe to specially mix these inks for printing to make sure the color is lined up. Yes, they have a special sheet and the color cards for it but it's all together to make sure the color accuracy is on point. Suddenly those pens UPS hands are went from 25 cents each to $1.50 each from Adobe's announcement. Ouch.
