I owned a 1985 CRX. Blue/Grey two toned. I bought it for $6000 in 1986 and my monthly payment was $112. I drove it through college and into my first couple years of marriage and sold it with 130k miles for $2300 in 1993. I went through three sets of tires, two exhausts, two clutches, and two timing belts. The car ALWAYS started in cold winters and NEVER let me down. I remember reading the articles on this car's build with a certain fondness. This video brought back a ton of memories.

I had a 1989 CRX with the base 1.5 engine. New it was slow, but still fun to drive because it was so light. Had 880k miles and still got 42mpg right before wrecking it. Never once in all those miles did it ever not start when I turned that key. Every CRX model was legendary in it's own way. Bless this man for keeping this one as a time capsule!

I chased that car all over the industrial area of San Rafael CA one night in around 1987. The driver finally stopped when he figured out I wasn't a cop. I was chasing it because I saw it take off too quickly for a CRX and I had noticed the extra pair of exhaust pipes. Cool car. Glad it's still around.

Vividly remember this car in C&D twice in the 80s. It was my dream car. I'm so happy to find out after all these years that it's still around and loved.

This guy is a saint (in the car world) I met him when he brought out his rebuild of the Brubaker Box. He saves the strange, weird, and forgotten. Thank you, Jay, for bringing this out.

my first new car was a 1984 Honda CRX. I could never forget this C&D project. It has lived rent-free, in a good way, in my head for all these years.

In 1992 or 93 i was at a collector car auction with my in Ann Arbor Michigan at Domino's Farms. I remember this car being there. I looked in the truck and saw the engine back there and realized it had two engines. I explicitly remember the blue interior in the back. Crazy what you remember as a kid.

Wow, this is so cool! I just bought a white 1986 CRX Si from my wife’s grandfather. He kept it in really good condition and it’s running great today. I’m currently fixing the body up and this really just validated the decision I made to put money into it. I’ve never owned or appreciated this car considering it was produced before I was born, but am really enjoying everything about it.

ALOT of effort, engineering and $$$'s were poured into this. I clearly remember reading the C/D articles describing the build. Glad to see this is still alive and well!!

Wow, probably the most reliable and popular car back in the 80s the Honda CRX, I like the owner that brought the car in. He seems like a chill guy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dual engine CRX before, very creative build for sure. looks like a ton of fun🥳🎉🏁🏆

The guy who came up with the double key ignition needs a statue building of him. That taps straight into my inner 12 year old

I had a 1985 CRX. It didn't have that hot engine, but was so much fun to drive. Only car I've had with a manual choke (up to that point, everything I drove was fuel injected). The part that was most fun was my mom and one of my sisters would panic any time they were in the car with me, swearing that I was doing double the speed limit (wasn't), and that it was too small to drive on the highway. Fun times! I bought it used, drove it for 2 summers and mothballed it for the winter. I traded it in on a new 1988 Civic hatchback, for only $1000 less than I bought it for. I even carried one sister's wedding cakes in it with my mom screaming at me to slow down the entire half hour it took to transport them.

That Mugen body kit is probably worth a small fortune. Very cool car ! I've owned 3 88-91s and loved them, unfortunately hard to find any nice ones anymore and even harder to find clean unmolested first gens. Thank you for showing this gem !

I love this generation of CRX. My dad bought one right after the wall fell in Germany. It was the 1.6 with 125hp and had to be one of the quickest cars around in our area in eastern Germany. He sadly had to sell it because I was born and it was to small for a family. 😍
