These saws really like a 25” with a hungry full skip chain. Been running one for 2 years. Love it

The size of the bar doesn't use much power. You can spin 36 inches of chain with that saw, cut the se 18" diameter tree and get very similar results, slightly slower with the bigger bar. The amount of bar you're using in the cut shows what the saw can do. You could run the 25 burried in a 25" log, and that would show the true power of that 400. I'm sure it can run a 25 easily, most 60cc plus saws can without a problem. A good muffler mod would help it gain quite a bit and would make the 25 feel like a 20 burried in the cut. She runs good!

I run a 25" light bar and wrap handle. I climb with mone alot so the 25" is more for staying out of the way and reach. It'll pull it buried well but my saw is also not stock.

A 20" inch bar is probably right for that saw because if that is a 25 I can tell it is bogging it down

Yeah im a 20" bar max guy on my 400! I tend to run shorter bars on all my saws, time is money!

It’s 66cc.
The guy who ports my saws has done several of the 400 screaming with a 28” bar. That’s what I’m gonna run on mine

Whoever says a 20 is max is talking from their butt. It does great with a 25

You get a higher rev and more torque with shorter bar

I have a 20 on my ms250 and it runs it great, I don’t doubt a ms400 could run a 26 or 28 no problems

U have a big saw &very small wood -u dragging about 10 inches of unused chain saw wood keep higher rm if shorter bar&chain were used😢

A 20" on a 67cc saw? I run a 25" on my 59cc and that 400c is a much better saw.

Firewood is about 16 inches in length. Not 16 millimeters in length.
