I've finally fulfilled my ambition to ride the Kennington Loop, the return Loop on the Northern Line City Branch.

I miss the underground. Especially the smell.

Perhaps Transport for London can now do upgrade works at Kennington and to make the station lot more better and easier with wider platforms, step-free accessibility and less overcrowding. Since the Northern Line Battersea extension has been built and is now officially opened.

The sound frequency and reverb on the loop are incredible

I thought you needed to wear a hi-viz jacket to ride the loop! Though, having heard about it not being permitted for regular members of the public, I'm surprised to see the messages specifically for passengers going round the Kennington Loop.

Surprised that the lights don’t turn off there
And if you have fallen asleep, those noises will surely wake you up

It is extremely noisy and rattling on there!! I wouldn't like to be on there alone, and I don't really understand the Kennington Loop - is it a dead end or cul de sac on that line? where the train has to turn around and go back again? I remember in 2019, I was on the tube going from Aldgate to Fenchurch Street station and there were signal delays or something like that. The train was stationary in the tunnel for about 15-20 minutes and although everyone else seemed calm and fine about it, I was panicking because I felt claustrophobic and was terrified there could be a terrorist attack. I couldn't wait to get off that train at Fenchurch Street, so relieved. I don't know how people can be so blasé about it and listen to music or fall asleep. It is unnerving on the tube.

Looks kinda like the City Hall loop on the NYC subway's 6 train. It passes through the original 1904 City Hall station on it's turn around from the downtown platform at the current station to the uptown side. The MTA doesn't really want you riding through there but many buffs do to get a look at the ornate original station.

In order to do it you need to find the right driver who doesn’t shout get off.
