Welcome to La Paz Bolivia - it's our first time in Bolivia and we had really high hopes for La Paz. Has it lived up to the hype in La Paz? Honestly we're not sure as of right now.

Turns out Bolivia has a bit of a dark past, there's some deep spiritual connections in La Paz, safety was a little bit of a concern and we learnt some crazy facts about the city. From the Witches Markets to El Alto, around every turn was something shocking, interesting, and fascinating. For everything beautiful we got to see, there was something broken (figuratively and literally) — we kind of feel like this is the most contrasted we've ever felt about a city.

You're way off with the "sacrifices". Before the Spanish arrived Alpacas were sacrificed regularly, and in the event of an Inca rulers death there may have been human sacrifices. However, you make it sound as if there are "sacrifices" that occur to this day. I'm pretty sure you were only half paying attention to what the guide was saying, and i mean no offence by that, you were likely distracted by your surroundings.
