Between Apollo Justice, Miles Edgeworth, Another Code, the upcoming Prof Layton, Retro Mystery Club, and now Emio…it’s a good time for van fans!

The remakes were fantastic, and very very dark and gruesome. So much so that it's honestly surprising they got by with a T. Seeing what Sakamoto can do with a M rating is going to be good.

Yoshio Sakamoto definitely has a knack for creating games with a dark and to a lesser extent psychological vibe with both Metroid and Famicom Detective Club. Granted Metroid Other M really botched the execution of Samus's vulnerability, that aside, I have a lot of respect for him. I am actually really intrigued to try Emio now since I have been in the mood for visual novels, point and click adventures, and I am a sucker for mystery and/or psychological thrillers. Hopefully it will be good once it comes out.

This is an intelligent move by Nintendo. Make people talk about it then reveal it’s a brand new entry of a dormant franchise that has had remakes fairly recently on Switch. Great to see FDC be put in the forefront once more!
AND!! It goes to show that Nintendo values smaller AA releases alongside their huge AAA franchises. This is a healthy strategy and a sustainable one at that. There is variety for everyone in the Nintendo ecosystem too.

0:42 4th game if you count the Satellaview game that has Ayumi as the only playable protagonist.

It's time to put on makeup, it's time to light the lights, It's time to meet Emio on the Famicom tonight!

Well it's not that Emio is sometimes called "The Smiling Man" but rather Emio IS the Smiling Man. That's what the name means in JP

I'm fairly excited to play this, but I know a LOT of people will be disappointed learning that the coolest marketing Nintendo's done in ages is for a visual novel of all things. This genre doesn't exactly get people jumping out of their seats in excitement (unfortunately).

I can't believe Bloober Team is making this new Famicom Detective Club game.

It's surreal to see that Emio is a new Famicom Detective Club, didn't see that one coming! While I think this may be anticlimatic for some people, maybe the Emio hype brings renewed attention to the FDC series? Who knows (it made me interested in trying them out, although they are priced at £50 on the eShop...)

I am over the moon. Getting to finally play Famicom Detective Club was a bittersweet moment, because I never thought we'd see it again past a Satellaview rerelease. A NEW ONE?? M RATED? JUST IN TIME FOR MY HORROR MARATHON?? SAKAMOTO, I KNEEL

This brings up a very big conversation about Nintendo I.P’s returning and Nintendo’s recent habits of utilizing their I.P’s more and more. They have so many of them.

F-Zero 99

Another Code Recollection

Endless Ocean Luminous

Famicon Detective Club Emio

All I.P’s that seemed presumably dead, but here they are.

This also shows us that game don’t need to sell 1, 000, 000 units or more in order to get new entries.

I'm here for it. I always thought that it would be cool to get an "episode" of Famicom Detective Club every year or so. They're really well written. Even if you're not someone that thinks they'd like a visual novel, you'll probably enjoy it. The pacing is very well done and keeps you wanting to talk to the characters just a bit more to learn a bit more.

Is this the longest ever gap between new entries for a Nintendo franchise? 35 years.

It’s actually the 4th. There was one for the Sateelview where Ayumi was the main protagonist.

I’m so glad that FDC is back, and with a physical copy!

I have never even heard of this series. I do like the Ace Attorney games so this look like it is right up my ally

Happy with this. Really enjoyed the two remakes, especially the girl who stands behind.

Nintendo really isn't here to chase industry trends. They're publishing an M-rated psychological mystery visual novel, in 2024, because they (presumably) believe in the merits of this project. They're putting a big marketing push for a niche AA title, and I think that's admirable from a culture perspective... I mean, a new Famicom Detective Club game after 3 decades? Talk about reviving a series.
