So many in the comments got this wrong. You can see the condensation line go from the tip into the muffler. So they created vacuum. With the 90° connection. Not a cut out, but a cut in.

You have to cut off exhaust from the other pipe when you open your dump. You can’t just have an open dump with the full exhaust system still open to air flow.
