I do the same!! Younger kids need to stay curious and we need to have fun learning / teaching. I have a list of topics to cover month to month (about 2ish) and gather library books, coloring pages, whatever I can find to make that topic enjoyable for my kids. It allows us to change it up constantly but still feel like we are doing work. Right now we are studying birds and trees so I have blank posters up that we can fill in with information or pictures.

Yes! This is also how we do science. I’ve tried a couple different science curriculums but they are so dry, or too many worksheets.

Love this! Makes the most sense for growing minds. How do you include this in your IHIP at the beginning of the year? (I live in NY and we have to submit our plan and curriculum lists at the beginning of the year)

I'm in the same boat with elementary/middle school age kids and trying to foster that curiosity. I wish I had been less worried about it when they were younger and trying to find a science curriculum. 💕💕

I'm doing the same now. I used Blossom & Root for science because of their book list and activities, but it's not anything I couldn't look up myself. Plus, it gets expensive the older they get! Like you said, it's just one more thing to add to a list so I'd rather just cater to their interests as they come up

We get a free mini-lesson from Mystery Science every Monday. You can pay to get more access. The lessons are great and include printables. I almost took advantage of the discount they offered for full access at the beginning of the year. Maybe next year! The kids love that they get to vote on the next lesson topic. Check it out!
