Operations on Radicals| Addition/Subtraction| Multiplication | Division
Показать описание
In this tutorial video, you will learn easily how to perform the four fundamental operations on radicals.
Radicals can be added or subtracted if they are similar radicals. Just manipulate the way you manipulate like algebraic terms. If each radicand in the radical expression is not in simplest form, then you need to simplify first so that you can add/subtract like radicals.
In multiplying radicals, I presented two cases :
1. Radicals of the same order (simplify by applying the product rule for radicals)
2. Radicals of different orders (transform first to exponential expressions and then transform the fractional exponents into similar fractions)
In Dividing Radicals, just apply the quotient rule and the rationalization of the denominator.
Here are some lessons you need to review in order to achieve complete and smooth learning.
1. Transforming Radical to Exponential (and Vice Versa)
2. Deriving Laws of Radicals
3. Simplifying Radicals
