I wish I could show this to my best friend. He was a fan of NIN. He introduced me to NIN and the brilliant mind of Trent Reznor. This hits me. He passed away on 4/9/2020 from an opioid overdose. I've known many people that passed away from ODs, but he was my best friend 15 years. RIP brother. I'm going to miss you bro. You were family.

Trent is still the master of stabbing you through the heart, with electronic ballads.

Trent is the most underrated Mastermind of atmosphere, music & sound in general.
He is, by far, the greatest audio engineer genius of the last forever.

I wouldn't complain if the next NIN record sounded like this. Rez is getting older and his music has matured very well with him :)

Why does it always feel like their songs are written just for me? Beautiful.

I started sobbing mid way through the song and as soon as he stared singing i just need a minute to breathe I was completely uncontrollable. Such a masterpiece, thank you Trent and Atticus

There's something I can't explain that happens to my brain when that line "I Just need a minute to breathe" line comes in.. F*cking magic. Reznor has some kind of song structure formula that really triggers something in my head. I find this with many NIN songs.

One of his most heartfelt love this man and all his music. The rage, hate, pain, passion, love, intelligence, hard work and is perfect....This is the closest it gets to that musically however.

“It was an uncomfortable and risky track to work on, because it could veer easily into eye-roll territory, ” he says. “At the end of the day we knew that if it sucked, it goes with all the others in the vault that no one’s ever going to hear. But how does one write a love song about the planet without groans? And that’s what was intriguing about it: Could we pull it off? And right up to the last second of sending it to Fisher, I was saying, ‘I don’t know, man. I don’t know, ’ mostly because I was afraid. I reminded myself, after a couple of years not touring and spending time in the hot seat, that it always feels uncomfortable if you’re doing it right. That doesn’t mean the risks are always good. But in this case I felt alive again. I felt that uncomfortable feeling like I’m naked on stage and not sure that I want to be.” - Trent

I bet if this was on a NIN record, it would have been a massive hit like hurt. This song is amazing. So many layers and depth. This song is so good.

Very few songs reach me inside as deep as this does. Whenever I hear this song I think of all my friends, my family that I love so much, the lost loves, my whole life and failures, the chances of me being born, my impact on other people lives, my choices... And in the end the irrelevance of all this. The hard, cold served truth that we'll all perish one day without a trace.

This song really makes you question your existence. Only Trent can do that.

You know, I used to laugh at people who would cry when a celebrity or respected musician died, the people who never met them, never hung out with them, didnt know them other than through the works... But, now I understand that when Trent has to go, I will be mourning. What he has done for soooo many through his music, especially myself. If I can do what he has done creatively for many, and then some, to pay it forward, only then will I consider my life successful... Thank you Trent, for what you have already done, and what will be next from you.

Does anyone else find this masterpiece prophetic amid the COVID-19 situation?!?
