NASCAR bans Confederate flag from races

The ban means fans are prohibited from flying it at all NASCAR events and properties.

I know the Confederate battle flag has different meanings for different people but if you ever see any old pictures of lynching the flag that they always have in the background is the Confederate Battle Flag. You just need to let that sink in for a moment.

There should only be ONE flag loyal Americans should honor and that's the STARS and STRIPES. The flag of defeated traitors who fought to keep human beings in bondage has no right to be displayed anywhere in the United States, they lost, period.

I disagree with the decision to ban it. It should be left to the individual. This flag is part of our U.S. history and one I don’t find offensive when accepting that there was a civil war and it ended this slavery. There’s still many artifacts left from that era along with and from other events and experiences from our U.S. history.

I understand some people feel differently about the flag, and therefore it’s been removed from some events. That’s the freedom and liberty we can experience in this great country when people advocate for a cause.

Change can and will exist. This is a perfect example with NASCAR. However, can we please focus on how we treat each other in the present and not on how we should feel about a flag that is part of our country’s history.
