The more people complain about the lead singer not hitting the high notes, the more I get disappointed in those people. Scream for hitting a high note in an acoustic version of a song makes no sense and puts an unnecessary strain on the vocal cords. He can hit the high notes, he is just not hitting them to make this version sound better or at least make more sense.

For those of you complaining that he can't hit a high note.. I advice you go see them at concert or in an interview. He CAN sing the high notes, however singers are meant to rest their voices at times and you can't possibly ask any singer to sing his best every day or he could hurt his throat . With all the vocal practises, the interviews and live performances, you can't expect him to sing the high notes every time as these are the hardest to hit and he can get an injury resulting in poor concert performances.

Screaming over a string ensemble of this size? Bad idea. It's out of texture and it would be very much weird. He could go falsetto, but maybe he wanted a fuller sound so he took the lower octave instead.

He's a musician. He knows what he's doing.
