Richard J. Riordan Central Library, also known as the Los Angeles Central Library, is the main branch of the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL), in Downtown Los Angeles. It is named after the Mayor of Los Angeles Richard Riordan. The complex is the third-largest public library in the United States in terms of book and periodical holdings.

It consists of two buildings: the Goodhue Building and the Tom Bradley addition, from 1926 and 1993, respectively. The former was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on December 18, 1970. The building is a designated Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. Shown here is just about one-fourth of one floor of the 8-floor building.

Goodhue designed the original Los Angeles Central Library with influences from ancient Egyptian and Mediterranean Revival architecture. Please check the Source below for more details.

Very nice library! This library is huge. I love the decor on the ceilings. It looks modern on the ground and then when you pan up the library looks more historic. Very interesting.
