Webinar: A Global Study of the Genetics of Cholangiocarcinoma

The International Consortium for the Genetics of Biliary Tract Cancers is a newly established group dedicated to understanding the genetics and epidemiology of biliary tract cancers globally, including cholangiocarcinoma. We are in the process of organizing a genome-wide association study with the goal of discovering new genetic variants associated with cholangiocarcinoma using samples from over 7000 patients from 82 institutions from 30 different countries (and counting!). Along with genetic sequencing data, demographic and clinical information is also being collected for each patient, providing a wealth of epidemiological data to examine risk factors for cholangiocarcinoma. The data from this study will allow doctors to assess risk in a more detailed manner and provide some of the first information on risk factors for certain global regions.
