With his words on Ukraine, Pope Francis "intended to call for a ceasefire and to relaunch the courage of negotiation". This is what the director of the Holy See Press Office responded to the journalists, after the interview that the Holy Father gave to Swiss television. Speaking on Swiss television, the pope repeated the phrase 'white flag' back to the interviewer, who used it first, and also said Ukraine should not be ashamed to negotiate and carry out peace talks as many lives were being lost.
