I just did a difficult patch job with this and was impressed how nice it was to work with.
If i were taping, I'd either add some glue or use general purpose.

Does it perform well as texture using a hopper?

worst compound to use for taping, too light.. ProForm works better, practically no bubbles and smoother tougher finish. Nice try though..
