A $250, 000 a year programmer pays heavy income taxes. The AI that replaces him(her) pays none.

I work in a bilingual environment, so I use translation tools all of the time. They have improved drmatically in the last decade. But I often need to rewrite their output using my own knowledge to get them fully correct. Translators will still have some work--at least for important documents.
As for graphic designers, consider photography. When cameras were invented that could capture images more accurately and quickly than any painter, the art world was shaken. But eventually, painters found that they had abilities and insights that cameras didn't and whole new schools of art were borm. And hand-painted portraits became a luxury item. Surely, some graphic designers will be impacted. But many others will just use this as one more tool to make images that AI could never do alone.

One of the biggest reasons to fear AI is that as it is rolled out human overseeing and intervention will cease and the AI will be left alone so if it makes mistakes no-one will know about it and there will be no-one to correct mistakes. If it steals your money there will be no-one to appeal to.

I find it interesting how many people seem to think that AI will free us up to do more things like hobbies, creativity or whatever. If you're not working where do you get the money to do that, let alone take care of yourself? Whether people like it or not, it's time to start having "what if" conversations about the potential of millions of people out of work. We shouldn't be assuming that technology will create tons of new jobs we haven't thought of yet to replace the ones that are lost.

Well, don't blame AI for that, blame the greedy corporate elites who don't want to pay you and are more than happy to replace you with a machine.

Corporations have NEVER been on the side of its employees for the most part, so it's no surprise they'd use AI to replace humans for greater profit margins. People prefer to deal with other people most of the time, so we could see the rise of freelancers and small businesses getting their own clients, especially thanks to the technology that allow us to communicate with others in other parts of the world in nanoseconds. Someone who's a small business owner isn't going to want to fool around with AI; they'd rather pay a freelancer or another small business owner to provide solutions to them. The freelancers and small business owners offering solutions could in turn use AI to streamline their own work processes.

I am glad that I am getting older — I don’t want to live in the soulless world that the computers are creating for us. By the way — people that make videos like this can easily be replaced by AI. AI can crank out a million of videos like this one in a week.

100%. The workforce that is replaced by AI is also the customer base the businesses lusting after AI rely upon for their profits. When the workforce is replaced and has no income, the businesses will lose their customers. Introducing AI will basically destroy the cycle of consumption businesses rely upon for their very existence.

Makes me happy knowing as an electrician that jobs requiring trade schools that were scoffed at for being blue color will always be in demand. They pay more now than ever before, your certificate isn't worthless, society needs the jobs to function, and they're becoming more respected by the day.

The question that this scenario seems to beg is: WHO will BUY/CONSUME any of this deluge of perfect products and services? Who will 'marketing strategies' target when their consumer base shrinks exponentially?

Imagine spending your younger years working extremely hard, working service jobs, ie; dishwasher, server, bus person, landscaping, any physical job while trying ro excel at something better. Only to end up being obsolete after all due to ai, and then having to Resort back to those types of jobs you had when you were younger just to survive.

I’m a CPA. They told us in early 90’s that QuickBooks and TurboTax would take our jobs. I’m still going strong and have more work than I can handle but I do think AI has a greater chance of destroying my business than the threat back then.

I appreciate you sharing this video. One of the industries which will be killed off first by artificial intelligence is customer service. Automation and AI-powered chatbots are already replacing human customer service agents. This means that customer service staff will need to transition to roles that require higher-level skills to remain competitive. AI-powered chatbots can respond to customer inquiries quickly and accurately, reducing the need for human customer service agents. Additionally, AI can provide more personalized experiences to customers, which is something that human agents cannot do. As a result, customer service agents will need to develop more specialized skills in order to stay competitive in the job market.

Just a few examples. My friend from a small European country is a great cinematographer. He devoted years to master his English (really struggled with it) and get into a prestigious Los Angeles film school, beating thousands of other applicants from around the world. Graduated and managed to get the green card for extraordinary ability. His dream of becoming a cinematographer in the US was so, so close. Now suddenly you can generate movie trailers with text prompts, and probably whole movies soon. The dream that my friend fought his whole life for is suddenly gone, as there won't be a need for cinematographers (or very little need).

Another example. A few years ago the top university in my county introduced a new program: BA in audiovisual media localisation. The first batch of students is graduating this year... I have no idea how they feel, but they must be feeling horrible. Their whole degree is suddenly worthless. There was a lot of content to subtitle for a few years, and suddenly - nothing. Or just editing machine translations for peanuts.

Trust me, millions of jobs will be lost very, very suddenly. I don't know how humanity will survive without UBI. And even then, many people will feel like they've lost all purpose in their lives after they lost their job. Maybe some new form of humans will emerge, but it will be great chaos before that, and for a very long time. If we survive at all.

So after we have AI and automation doing all of these tasks. And we humans in time will lose those skills to be able to do any of these necessary tasks. What will we do when a solar flair comes along and takes out all of these high tech things we have come to rely on? Someone better have a plan B.

My key take away from this are things like “there will always be a place for human expertise in highly specialised or sensitive translations” and “to thrive… working on complex large scale projects” plus the last 35 seconds.

In short, the AI future looks bright!
