Lawn-chair Larry didn't die from his aerial escapades. *ELEVEN YEARS LATER, * he ended his own life. It had nothing to do with his flight. This was not a Darwin Award situation. It's insulting to say that ending yourself because of depression gives you a Darwin award, or to call it a dumb way to go.

Only about half of these are true Darwin Award winners. Several were just accidents that people doing normal things were unfortunate enough to experience. I also don't think that premeditated suicides can be counted, even though the method was a little bizarre.

Ten years ago the mahoning county jail in Youngstown Ohio had an emergency release due to excessive overcrowding. At about 8 pm they released about 35 inmates! One of them was a copper scrapper ( steals copper for drug $) he went to an abandoned building and cut into a power line he THOUGHT was not powered. Well it was and his luck of getting a get out of jail free card, led to him getting a trip to the morgue

I worked for a petroleum maintenance company years ago. I had just finished pumping the gasoline out of a 2500 gallon underground tank and pulled the suction pipe out and set it on the ground when my coworker walked up with a lit cigarette in his mouth. He looked down in the tank and his cigarette fell from his lips down the pipe - - we both watched it dinging and sparking down the pipe, glowing brightly until it landed in the remaining puddle of gas in the bottom of the tank and sizzled out. We both looked at each other in shock, realizing that could have gone very badly!

I can't see where the Segway safety was even remotely questioned by the fact that the inventor drove one off a cliff when backing up to make room for a man who was walking his dog. He made a mistake and that cost him his life, not the Segway. If you back a car off a cliff, it's not the car's fault.
