Hello, thank you for listening to our music. I hope it gives you some joy and pleasure.

I am pleased that you have discovered our music through this medium. I view this experience as the equivalent of previewing a record in a record store in days of old. However, if you wish to experience the music in its' fullest form, I would strongly encourage you to acquire it in a physical format you can bring into your home. Not only will you then be able to experience the richest version of the music sonically, but you will also be afforded the opportunity to enjoy the tangible artwork, which was conceived in tandem with the music, and serves as a further portal to experiencing the total conceptual and spiritual and emotional content of the work we have labored, lovingly, to bring to you.

I love you,

- Michael Gira / Swans / Young God Records

It can't be a Swans song without Gira saying

I've been listening to Rock, metal, doom, thrash, black metal and all that shit since I was like 13. I always thought I was listening to very dark and unsettling music but once I came across Swans I got the unshakable feeling of overwhelming darkness in every single one of their songs. The lyrics really strike like a fucking knife right into your soul. Goddamn it.

Jarboe makes this song. She has an almost supernatural ability to craft haunting minimalistic sound scapes. Her work on this record and soundtracks for the blind is absolutely brilliant.

This is probably the greatest song of my lifetime. Thurston Moore said this was the 'band to end all bands', this is certainly the song to end all songs. Every second is a black hole.

Charles Beaumont 1929-1967:- "The face of evil looks like yours and mine."
Swans' creepily brilliant song about Dennis Nilsen still sounds as compelling as ever,
25 years later.

David Tennant did a magnificent job of portraying him in all of his mundane cruelty.

I'm so in love with this song. Crazy that a song about a serial killer could be so beautiful.

This song was inspired by the Serial Killer Dennis Nilsen, who would kill people for company...keep their bodies, prop them up to watch TV with him, bathe them, etc...

Damn, to think that I had Mr. Gira in front of me, greeted him, thanked him for an amazing show as he autographed my concert ticket... such an amazing guy

Great song. I used to work in the same Job Centre as Denis Nilsen after the arrest his old colleagues said he was a lovely guy, union rep etc scratch the surface...

Thank you Gira and Jarboe - you made the 80’s and 90’s tolerable.

This song brings with it a mix of tragedy, pain, despair and nostalgia. Swans is everything.

I ruined this track for myself. Or made it better. Can't decide. Either way most definitely a highlight within the discography of Swans to say the least. The opening of this track is one of my favorite musical moments of all time. The song might be my favorite song of all time. I love Swans. Such a great band. Thank you Mr. Gira!
