About six years ago, I wrote to the then head of the Speed Champions line, asking if I could have 5 days work experience at LEGO, (bearing in mind I was in the UK so this was a bit of a stretch.) They politely rejected my application, and I thought nothing more of it. A few weeks later, I got a Speed Champions Ferrari La Ferrari in the post. Enclosed with it was a handwritten letter from the head of Speed Champions, explaining how sorry he was he couldn't accept me, but to never give up on my dream, and, out of generosity, he enclosed a free Lego set, signed by him and everyone else who made it.

My point? Speed Champions will ALWAYS be worth it.

The Elva has no windshield. It’s a super lightweight hyper car and deletes many items including windows (no front or side windows) to save weight. So the model is actually pretty accurate

Speed champions is honestly what got me back into lego last year the ferrari f8 tributo caught my eye, started collecting all the sets I could find, now I'm also collecting lego star wars again, crazy how that happened

not even just for the builds, but they always come with cool new parts or new colors too. I bought the whole last wave(first wave of 8-wide) and they still look beautiful on the shelf, I’ll never disassemble them. Top 3 theme right now imo.

Let me save you some time; yes, it's worth it since the cars are starting to look like the real deal, and now LEGO has changed their standards to 8 studs wide, so you can fit in more minifigs!

If you love the theme then yes, go for the sets.

The orange parts on the side of the front of the Ford gt are the wrong way. I think the instructions have a mistake but if you look at the box it shows them the right way.

I've never gotten any but honestly I'm tempted to.

Definitely picking up that Corvette set. My Dad used to have one in that color but it was a 70s model :)

Finally, I have been waiting when you review the Speed champions line up. I have the Mercedes AMG GT and the 70´s Porsche 911 from the previous Speed champions sets.

I think ok the 8 stud cars has been a perfect mix between accuracy and compactness.
I never liked Technics cars, the have too many gaps and feels broken and fragile. While 6 stud cars are just too small to have enough identifiable features.

Not to mention all the wonderful MOC that stem from 8 stud frame

For me the best speed champions sets have always been the ones in the double packs, but here in the UK the duel packs are absurdly overpriced sometimes, usually a 30$ set would go for £40 which is a big downer for the theme

7:15 if im not wrong that mclaren comes with no windshield from factory becouse its a track car and its for as much aerodynamics as possible, and u get helmets with the car irl so there being no windshield wont bother u

A really cool thing about the Koenigsegg Jesko is that the Swedish flag appears in the building process with the random blue and yellow tiles under the back hatch where the motor would be. its kinda a cool nod to what the manufacture Koenigsegg does when building their engines they engrave "the ghost" into the piston heads and other parts of the engine that know one will ever see except the person who built it.

I love these cars. I think that the 6 studs limited the detail we could have in a model and I live how much more accurate the new cars are. My favorite has to be the Koenigsegg and my least favorite is the supra.
