THANK YOU!! You are the only person on the web or in person who is honest about the green cast of low-e. Most of the industry is pretending there’s not much difference, if they talk about it at all.

Low-E glass ruined my entire home. It was bright and airy and now it’s a greenish vampire cave. The green-gray cast gives me a headache and changed the color of the paint on the walls. Our salesman never mentioned it, although we asked tons of questions and read all of the documentation before purchasing. In fact, we bought the same windows we had in the previous home. The salesman told us that the coating is different now and that the green cast isn’t a big deal once you get used to it. Worst experience of my life in homeownership and I’ll be sitting in a puke-green living space for years to come.

Again, thank you for providing clear information!

We need more window sales guys like you. I can't find a competent window person anywhere, and wished I had a guy like yourself in Indiana.

Great information that is explained in words that anyone can understand. The information about which part of the country you live in being important in the Low-E coating placement was new to me and most people I mentioned it to. Thanks!

Very informative. I live in the UK which has a cold climate for most of the year and now I know the low e coating needs to be on the inner glass of the double glazed unit. 👍🏻

Good god this is informative. Thank you much. Its very hot and humid in the summer. About the longitude of Atlanta. So a concern I have is when that sun swings around to South/West and rooms start to sizzle. Its ok for my wifes Pilates class but on goes the air conditioners ....

Thanks for the video. What if you flip the orientation of the low-e test glass? I wonder what numbers the thermometer will give? We have low-e windows currently being installed in our house and the installer insisted that the orientation of the glass doesn't matter.

We live in a hot climate, and direct sunlight on the windows. We have both low-e single pane and low-e laminated glass. For the laminated (monolithic), the low-e coating is put in the middle of the panes. Perhaps maybe I just go and buy the heat lamp from EDTM and see for myself which orientation is best? But I'm curious as to the numbers that I would expect...

Awesome video.
I’m looking at Marvin windows and can’t decide if we should go with E2 or E3 in North Carolina.

I live in Florida and for our homes people buy the hurricane impact windows for the hurricanes. The problem is the impact glass is on the inside and the very thin Low-E is on the outside. The Low-E offers no protection from storms. When inside the homes here knock on the glass and it sounds solid. Now go outside and knock on the glass and you will see how it gives no protection. The problem is the storms are on the outside where the impact glass needs to be.
